We supply precision straight edges from 3 feet to 16 feet long for inspection and alignment applications.
Standard and Custom Steel Straight Edges
We manufacture a complete line of steel standard straight edges with lengths from 36" to 180". We provide certification document for each precision straight edge. We will check your precision straight edge using a certified granite surface plate with traceability to NIST standards. Our inspection procedures check the flatness and straightness for each straight edge.
Applications for Precision Straight Edges
Precision straight edges are useful for and checking the flatness of surfaces and leveling machine tools. In most of these applications, the straight edge is used as a reference surface to check your part. With a straight edge you can track and isolate potential sources of error. The amount straightness deviation usually measured by inserting a feeler gauge between the part and the straight edge. Our customers keep finding new and innovative uses in a wide range of industries.

Recalibration and Inspection
We inspect and complete our certification form on straight edges up to and including 12 feet long for only $250 each. If your unit was not severely damaged, but does require grinding we can quote a repair price upon inspection.
Our standard quality specifications for precision straight edges are:
- 0.001-inch from 36-inch up to 84-inch length
- 0.002-inch from 85-inch up to 144-inch length
- 0.003-inch from 145-inch up to 168-inch length
- 0.004-inch from 169-inch up to 180-inch length
- 0.012-inch for PaveFlat Units
- +/- 0.019 inch for PaveFlat-3M per EN1306-7-A.2
Shipping & Freight Options
We ship every straight edge in a pressboard carton that is designed to withstand the abuse of both UPS and LTL freight carriers. We ship under 96" via UPS, over 96" via LTL. We can work with your freight department or arrange for pickup with our prefered carrier. We strive to make this process as easy as possible.
